Nokomis students attended the Envirothon Field Day at the University of Maine to learn about soils, aquatics, wildlife and forestry in preparation for the Envirothon competition in the spring. It was great to see two former Nokomis students as professional leaders as well!

Students in environmental studies class visited our local Great Blue Heron rookery with Maine Wildlife Biologist, Danielle D'Auria to help identify, measure and tag heron nest trees. We helped identify 33 nest trees with a total of 39 nests!

Several of our students had the opportunity to travel to Monson Arts on a beautiful October day. They toured a gallery exhibit, met with artists, and took a walk on the Appalachian Trail. Many thanks to Monson Arts and to our adventurous students!
